Saas-Fee sits on a plateau at about 1,800 m. Cars are not allowed in the village and must be left in car parks outside it.
The skiing
The ski area has about 100 km of pistes and 22 lifts, and reaches up to 3,600 m. The Metro Alpin, an underground funicular, climbs to Mittelallalin, which has a revolving restaurant. The glaciers allow skiing well beyond the usual winter season.
